GOPALGANJ, Nov 18: Boro cultivators in the district are now passing busy time.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Gopalganj official sources, a total of 3,99,518 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation this season.
Of the total hybrid variety will be produced in 2,64,448 hectares of land, Upshi on 1,35,012 hectares and local varieties will be grown in 58 hectares of land.
About 0.2 million farmers are involved in Boro farming this season, sources said.
Alap Farazi of Nilokhi village under Durgapur union in Sadar upazila he is preparing his field for farming Boro so that he could achieve a good yield.
The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Gopalganj, has taken a target for supplying about 100 tonnes of quality Boro seeds to the farmers.
Rafique Jammadar of Golabaria village under Durgapur union of Sadar upazila said farmers in the area are losing their interest in farming Boro for low market prices.
He urged the authority concerned for taking adequate measures so that the farmers get fair prices of their hard-earned produce.
