Four die in Rajshahi road crashes

Four people have died in three separate road accidents in Charghat, Puthia and Godagari upazilas of Rajshahi district on Friday.

Two of the deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 50, of Chauddapai area of Rajshahi city, Jewel Rana, 27, of Faridpur village of Godagari upazila.

Rajshahi Charghat police station officer-in-charge Nibaran Chandra Barmon said two motorcyclists were killed as a sand-laden truck hit their motorbike in Baneswar area.

They identities could not be known yet; however, they are hailing from Natore’s Kanaikhali area.

Puthia police OC Sayedur Rahman Bhuiyan said deceased Nazrul was an employee of Rajshahi University.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway as a truck hit a motorcycle on which he and his friend were traveling towards Rajshahi.

According to local media, Nazrul died on the spot, his companion was injured and taken to hospital.

Godagari police OC Hipzur Alam Munshi said poultry trader Jewel was killed as a truck hit his motorbike while he was returning home after offering prayer at a local mosque.
