Fire-fighters recover body of missing fisherman in Pashur River

The fate of a fisherman who went missing during a storm on Monday afternoon revealed itself as his lifeless body was found floating in the Pashur river near Sundartala on Tuesday.

Fire fighters recovered the body of the deceased, Shafiqul Islam, 38, son of Abul Kashem hailing from Joymoni Katakhal area in Mongla upazila, around 4 pm on Tuesday.

Assistant Director of Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defense Md Masud Sardar said Shafiqul fell into the water from his boat while he along with his co-workers fishing in the river near Joymoni area around 3 pm on Monday.

On information, two fire fighting units conducted a rescue operation along the river but failed to turn up any results before recovering the body, added Masud Sardar.

The body was handed over to family members, reports UNB.
