Farmers get Tk 10.9m loan in Gaibandha

A total of 190 farmers in Gaibandha received loans of Tk 1.09 crore from banks to boost their agriculture production in the region. The loans were disbursed at the Agri-Loan Disbursement Fair-2018, recently organised by district administration and Bankers' Forum, on the premises of Independence Square of the town.

Bank officials said 20 state-owned, specialised and private banks disbursed a total of Tk 1.09 crore to 190 farmers as agriculture loan while each farmer received loan ranging from Tk 20,000 to Tk 1,80,000.

Jahidul Islam, a farmer residing in Kittarpara village under Palashbari upazila received Tk 60,000 from RAKUB, thanked the district administration and the Bankers' Forum for disbursing the loan to him among other beneficiary farmers, reports BSS.

Speaking at the loan distribution ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of the district Gautam Chandra Pal urged bank officers to increase the disbursement value of agriculture loan with nominal interest to help farmers produce more paddy, jute, maize, wheat, and spices like ginger, onion garlic and chili overcoming financial trouble.
