Drive against illegal establishments begins in Cox’s Bazar

The Cox’s Bazar Development Authority started a drive to demolish buildings, constructed without following the building code, in the district town.

Local executive magistrate Sheikh Sadek said they demolished three buildings on Wednesday, the first day of their drive, reports UNB.

Kazi Fazlul Karim, executive engineer of the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority, said that they served notice on the owners of 350 buildings for constructing building defying the building code.

Among those, the owners of 53 buildings did not respond to their notice and they have started drive to demolish those buildings.

Saiful Ashraf, assistant director of Department of Environment (DOE) in Cox’s Bazar and members of law enforcers agencies were present during the drive.
