Court sends former Kutubdia OC to jail

A court in Cox's Bazar has sent a former Officer-in-charge of Kutubdia Police Station, Altaf Hossain, to jail in a bribe case.

Cox's Bazar District and Session Judges Court Judge Mir Shafiqul Alam passed the order on Tuesday, reports UNB.

According to the case statement, a plaintiff wanted to file a murder case on June 18 of 2014 with Kutubdia Police Station but Altaf Hossain, the then OC of the police station, demanded Tk 1,00,000 for filing the case.

The plaintiff gave him Tk 50,000. But Altaf also took bribe from the accused and finally filed case against the plaintiff accusing victim's two brothers and mother.

The siblings served in jail for long time in the false case.

Later, the victim's relatives filed a case against the OC and Sub-inspector ABM Kamal Uddin with Cox's Bazar Senior Special Judges Court in this regard.
