Cop dies in Comilla road crash

A police constable was killed and four other people were injured in a road accident at Charbakar area on Comilla-Sylhet highway in Debidwar upazila of Comilla district on Thursday night.

 

Police said constable Hossian Sarker, 32, son of Nazrul Islam of Pomkara village in Brahmanpara upazila of the district, was returning to his work station Rangamati Police Lines after Eid vacation.

 

A Companiganj-bound bus of Teesha Paribahan, coming from Dhaka, knocked down the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying the police official along with two other passengers around 10:15 pm, leaving four people injured, said Md Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station.

 

The injured were taken to Debidwar Upazila Health Complex where Hossain Sarker succumbed to his injuries.

 

The body of the police constable was taken to Debidwar Police Station, reports UNB.

 

Superintendent of Rangamti police and relatives of the deceased were informed of the accident, OC Mizanur added.
