Boro growers expect bumper yield in Panchagarh

A large number of farmers in Panchagarh are expecting a bumper yield of Boro paddy during the current season.

Availability of agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, pesticides and favourable weather condition have led to the satisfactory production of the crop in the region, said District Agriculture Extension (DAE) officials.

DAE sources said a total of 80,500 hectares of land has been brought under Boro cultivation this year with the production target of 3, 36,000 tonnes.

Growers are now engaged in weeding, sprinkling urea fertiliser and nursing the cropland, according to a BSS report.

Bipul Chandra, a farmer of Shahapara village under Debiganj upazila said he cultivated Boro on one acre of land and the plants are growing excellently and he is expecting a bumper production this season.
