BCL suspends two leaders of SUST unit

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Monday suspended two of its leaders of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit who were arrested along with firearms, reports UNB.

Those suspended are Abdur Rashid Russel, mass education affairs secretary, and Azmal Hossain, human resources development secretary of the BCL unit, said a press release signed by BCL President Md Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain.

Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in an overnight drive on Sunday arrested four people, including Rasel and Azmal, along with firearms and explosives from the city over the attack on a BCL leader.

On Sunday, SUST BCL organising secretary Zahid Hasan was stabbed allegedly by Russel at Block-C of Shahpara Hall over occupying a room, leaving him injured. Azmal was present during the incident.

On March 21, the central BCL suspended 12 leaders and activists of the unit following a factional clash over establishing supremacy on the campus.
