The Health Ministry is monitoring the health condition of United News of Bangladesh (UNB) correspondent Bisnu Prasad Chakrabortty, who fell sick after taking Coronavirus vaccine in Bagerhat.

Bisnu, the Bagerhat district correspondent of the news agency, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH). He got the first jab on February 7 and fell sick shortly after that.

World Health Organization (WHO) SIMO Dr Syed Ahsan Rizvi and KMCH Assistant Director Dr Pulok Debnath visited the journalist and inquired about his overall health condition in the morning.

Bisnu has been suffering from fever, headache, breathing complications, memory loss and chest pain while medical tests have failed to find any cause of the complications.

Bagerhat Civil Surgeon Dr KM Humayun Kabir said Bisnu had taken blood test, ECG and Ultrasonography, among others, but no physical problem has been identified.

“A medical board was formed but there has been no visible development in his health condition,” Dr Kabir said.

The Health Ministry and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) are directly monitoring his case, he added. “Steps will be taken for his advanced treatment as per the recommendation of KMCH specialist medical board.”
