Two people, including an eight-year-old student, were killed in two accidents in Comilla and Brahmanbaria on Thursday.

Of them, only the child has been identified thus far – Al-Amin, son of Anwar Hossain from Shaheber Bazar under Burichang upazila in Comilla.

Witnesses said the child died on the spot as he was run over by a CNG-run auto rickshaw while crossing Comilla-Sylhet highway that goes through the Bazar.

The driver fled the scene immediately, they said, reports UNB.

In another accident, a youth, yet to be identified, died as he was crushed by a train while crossing the Puniaut level-crossing near the railway station in Brahmanbaria sadar upazila the same day.

Witnesses said Dhaka-bound Karnaphuli Express hit the youth while he was passing the level-crossing around 5 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Sanaul Islam, a sub-inspector of Brahmanbaria Railway Station Police camp, said they have recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.
