34,750 farmers to get incentive for Aush farming in Rajshahi

A total of 34,750 farmers will get incentives of seed, fertilizer and irrigation support for the cultivation of Aus paddy in the current Kharif-1 season in four districts in Rajshahi region.

Of the total, 31,000 farmers will get incentives for cultivation of high yielding Aush on 31,000 bigha of lands while 3,750 farmers for Nerica paddy on 3,750 bigha of land.

Each of the farmers, who wish to cultivate aush paddy, will get five kilograms seed, 20 kilograms urea, 10 kilograms DAP, 10 kilograms MoP fertilizers and cash of Tk 500 for irrigation purpose.

On the other hand, 3,750 farmers who intend to cultivate nerica paddy, will get 10 kilograms seed, 20 kilograms urea, 10 kilograms DAP, 10 kilograms MoP fertilizers and Tk 500 for irrigation and Tk 500 for weeding.

Mustafizur Rahman, Additional Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), said that the distribution of incentives are going on successfully everywhere in the region. He hoped that distribution will be fair.

He said the agricultural incentives will help boosting aush paddy production thereby the country's total production will be enhanced.

Agriculturist Rahman expected that around 4.37 lakh tonnes of aush paddy will be produced on 1.75 lakh hectares of land this season. Aush transplantation is progressing fast everywhere in the region at present.

He said the aush farming is very much cost effective as it requires less production cost and face less natural calamity.

Meanwhile, around 300 farmers were given the incentives in a function at Rajshahi’s Paba Upazila complex hall room on Monday, reports BSS.

Ayen Uddin, MP, attended and addressed the function as the chief guest with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Alamgir Kabir in the chair.

The meeting was told that some 12,150 farmers are getting the incentives in Rajshahi district.
