19th Khulna Int’l Trade Fair begins

The 19th Khulna International Trade Fair-2020 started on Wednesday in the district. The fair organised by the Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will continue till April 14.

Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek inaugurated the fair as the chief guest at a programme and KCCI President Kazi Aminul Haque presided over it.

Indian Assistant High Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Raina, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Anwar Hossain Howlader, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandaker Lutful Kabir and Khulna District Superintendent of Police SM Shafiullah were present on the occasion, among others.

There are more than 160 stalls in this fair.

In the past years, the fair was held at Khulna Circuit House, but this time the fair is being held at Khulna Divisional Women's Sports Complex in Sonadanga.

The fair will remain open for visitors from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm everyday and the price of the entrance fee is Tk 15.

Children under the age of five will not need a ticket to enter. Last year, an average of 10,000 people attended the fair per day.

Sources said Chinese traders are unable to attend the fair due to the Coronavirus. Pakistani traders are not taking part in the fair for visa complexity.

This year, special initiatives have been taken to entertain children. Children's zones are being built in a part of the field.

Besides, there are facilities for development of mobile banking, physicians, primary care centers, toilets, fire service stations, car parking, and free access to internet.

The foreign companies will sell textiles, machinery, carpets, cosmetics, electric and electronics products, jute products, leather products, sanitary products, stationery, crockery, melamine, plastics and toiletries in the fair.

More than 30 closed circuit cameras have been installed and police personnel have been deployed for the safety of the visitors.
