18 held at Benapole while returning to Bangladesh

BGB nab 18 Bangladeshis at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel nabbed 18 Bangladeshi nationals, including three children, while they were illegally entering the country from India from Gatipara area in Benapole on Saturday.

 

The arrestees -- Lily Khatun, Sathi, Bihari, Tahmina, Keya, Sharmin, Ayesha, Hanif, Mukta, Faridul, Achena, Irani, Balina, Tarek, Jahid, Hobi, Jyoti and Riyad -- hail from different parts of Narail, Khulna, Pirojpur, Natore and Naogaon districts, reports UNB.

 

Tipped off, a team of the border guard conducted a ride in the area and detained them while they were trying to enter Bangladesh from neighbouring India around 5:30 pm without valid documents, said commanding officer of BGB-49, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Haque.

 

Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, he added.
