A Cumilla district Awami League leader, who was abducted by unidentified miscreants from the capital's Lalmatia area on Friday, was rescued from Kanchan bridge in Purbachal city of the capital early Saturday.
Jamal Uddin Mir, Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, said miscreants released Parvez Hossain Sarker, a member of district (North) Awami League of Cumilla and former Titas upazila parishad chairman around 12:30am.
Later, he contacted with his family over phone.
Being informed, a team of police along with family members rescued him, reports UNB.
However, Parvej could not tell anything to police instantly as he was feeling drowsy, said the OC.
Miscreants picked up Parvej while he was returning home after saying his Juma prayers at Lalmatia Minar Mosque around 2pm on Friday.
