A Chattogram court on Wednesday sent Sub-inspector (SI) Khandaker Saifuddin of Bakalia thana to jail in connection with a case for possession of yaba tablets.
Rejecting his bail plea, Metropolitan Magistrate Sarwar Jahan Apu sent Saifuddin to jail after he surrendered before the court, according to Kazi Shahab Uddin, Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) recovered 14,100 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from a flat reportedly belonging to SI Khandaker Saifuddin in Hafeznagar area of west Bakalia on July 30, 2018.
However, RAB also arrested a youth SM Nazim Uddin Millat, from the place of occurrence in absence of Saifuddin during the raid from his house, reports BSS.
Saifuddin was suspended on August 1 in connection with the recovery of contraband pills.
