Construction of the iconic Bangabandhu Tri-Tower at Purbachal on the outskirts of capital Dhaka got underway with piling works for the mega project, reports UNB citing a press release of the developer.
Three iconic buildings have been jointly named Bangabandhu Tri-Tower which was awarded to a joint venture of Sikder Group and Kazima Corporation Japan by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkhaya (Rajuk).
Of the three towers, one 52-storey building will be built in memory of the Language Movement of 1952, one 71-storey building in memory of the great Liberation War, and the country's largest 111-storey building with a 96-storey museum will be constructed as the legacy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sikder Group and Kazima Corporation Japan were jointly selected through a tender for the construction of the iconic tower. The entire project was named Purbachal Central Business District (PCBD).
Rick Haque Sikder, Chairman, Powerpack Holdings Ltd. a concern of Sikder Group, inspected the progress of the work with local and foreign experts involved in the project.
Various survey reports including soil test, vehicle management of the project have already been submitted to Rajuk. The draft master plan and design of the project was also submitted to Rajuk.
Rajuk recently won an international award for the design of a smart and aesthetic iconic tower.
These eco-friendly buildings will be fitted with state-of-the-art solar glass all over the wall.
A common duct system will be introduced in the project for modern waste management, electricity, gas and various utilities.
The boundary wall of the green buildings will be built in the style of the Great Wall of China.
There will also be eco-friendly electric buses and an underground walkway for indoor travel.
The project has been designed by Heerim Architects and Planners, South Korea.
Earlier, State Minister for Public Works Sharif Ahmed visited Purbachal on February 19 to inspect the progress of preliminary work on the land allotted for Bangabandhu Tri-Tower.
He was accompanied by the Secretary of the Ministry, Rajuk Chairman, Chief Architect of Public Works, Chief Engineer and Project Director.
The construction work of the 90,000 sq ft temporary office of the project has started in full swing from Thursday along with the piling of the iconic buildings.
