A preliminary probe report has found Chinese construction company responsible for Monday’s deadly girder crash accident at Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project’s construction site in Uttara.
ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, secretary to the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, revealed the information at a press conference on Tuesday.
The secretary said China Gezhouba Group Corporation, the contractor tasked with the BRT project, was negligent and careless.
He said the company continued construction work on Monday, which was a public holiday marking National Mourning Day, without taking permission from consultants of the project and traffic department.
The enquiry committee also found responsibility of the crane operator as well as the security management company over the incident.
The RHD secretary informed that the six-member probe committee will submit a details report in two working days after more investigation.
He said they will take a decision on initiating action against those responsible after getting the final report.
On Monday, five members of a family were killed in the accident.
