The farmers of Panchagarh district are happy over bumper chilli yield and fair price of their produce this year after incurring losses in the previous year.
Now, green chilli is being sold at Tk 550 to 600 per mound in the local markets. A farmer can produce at least 30 maund chilli from one bigha of land, reports BSS.
Traders from different parts of the country come there to buy chilli and supply to different places including Dhaka.
A total of 5,000 hectares of land have been brought under green chilli cultivation this year, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of Panchagarh sources said.
Samsul Huque, deputy director of DAE Panchagarh, said the department has provided all necessary support to the chilli growers.
