Chattogram gets second COVID-19 testing lab

The second coronavirus (COVID-19) testing lab was launched at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) on Saturday.

Although the institute has six PCR machines, the sample testing activities will be carried out by one machine at present.

A total of eight persons including two teachers will carry out the Corona testing activities at the CVASU, the sources said.

A total of 100 samples will be tested every day primarily.

Initially we got 460 kits from BITID. Now we will start test activities whatever samples we get and the samples will be sent to BITID after completing the tests here. The results will be announced from BITID.

Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel formally inaugurated the corona test lab at CVASU on Thursday afternoon.

A letter was sent to the CVASU authority from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on April 9 to launch the corona test lab on the campus, Khalilur Rahman, deputy director (public relation) of CVASU said.

The first lab of Chattogram was launched at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) one month ago.
