A Dhaka court has set May 21 to submit probe report in the case lodged over death of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury by a bus of Suprobhat Paribahan.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari reset the date as investigation officer Qazi Shariful Islam failed to submit the report today (Tuesday) .

Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus in Pragati Swarani area on the morning of March 19, as he was trying to cross the road.

It was learnt later that the same bus earlier on that morning had struck another pedestrian, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene after the first incident, reports BSS.

Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the bus driver, its helper, conductor and owner of the bus with Gulshan Police Station.

The four accused — bus owner Nani Gopal, driver Sirajul Islam, helper Ibrahim Hossain and conductor Yasir Arafat — have already been arrested and gave confessional statements in the case.
