The 53th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Television (BTV) is going to be celebrated on Monday.
A get-together and cultural programme, participated by prominent and promising artistes, and technicians, will be held marking the day at Rampura TV Bhaban in Dhaka.
BTV invited all of its well-wishers to attend the events on the day.
Bangladesh Television, a state-owned Television network, started its journey on December 25, 1964 in the name of Dhaka Television, first of its kind in the subcontinent.
Dhaka Television launched its test transmission from a small floor of DIT Building.
Later, it was renamed as Bangladesh Television in 1972, just after the independence of the country in 1971.
During its long journey, BTV played a pivotal role in different democratic movements including the six-point charter movement in 1966, mass upsurge in 1969, general election in 1970 and the anti-autocratic movement.
According to UNB, apart from broadcasting news, Bangladesh Television gained popularity amongst the people through airing different kinds of programmes including drama, feature films, education, magazine programmes and documentaries.
