A mobile court has fined Boomers Café at Bailey Road Tk 100,000 for selling stale food after keeping it frozen in the refrigerator.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police led the drive on Sunday, according to a bdnews24 report.
“Stale rice was stored in the refrigerator,” said Executive Magistrate Moshiur Rahman. “We also found reused oil. Old yeast also was also found in fridge.”
“They were fined Tk 100,000 for all these violations.”
Boomers Café Manager Amar Bose told the agency “None of the food was old”.
“That is why the authority returned the food instead of destroying it after the test”, he added.
Workers at the eatery said the fine was unreasonable.
