Boiling weather continues for 16th day

Extreme hot and humid weather continued for the 16th consecutive day on Thursday despite light rain.

Though evening humidity declined to 53 per cent from 79 per cent on Thursday morning, the hot condition sustained amid lack of required rain and wind, said Met office.

Maximum temperature of Dhaka city was recorded at 34.7 degree Celsius on the day while minimum temperature was 27.3 degree.

Highest temperature of the country was measured in Rajshahi at 35.2 degrees and lowest at Teknaf at 24.5 degrees.

Few areas of the city witnessed light rain of 16 mm on the day until 6.00pm when highest rain was recorded in the country in Dinajpur as 44 mm, said Met Office.

Meteorologist Sadequl Alam said, the light rain was not enough to ease the hot humid condition of the densely populated capital.

He said the 8.0-15 kph south-easterly wind hardly could bring any comfort for the people on the day.

The boiling condition might persist until the end of the third week of this month when there is a chance of heavy rain, added Alam.

However, the Met Office forecasted rain in only few places of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Rajshahi  divisions in twenty four hours starting from Thursday evening.

Rain might occur in many places in Rangpur,  Sylhet, Khulna and Barishal divisions, said the Met Office.

Sunrise is at 5:33 am while sunset will be at 6:33 pm on Friday in Dhaka.
