BNP's outline for election-time govt at appropriate time: Fakhrul

BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said his party would disclose its outline for a proper election-time government at the ‘appropriate time’.

“There is an appropriate time for everything. We will present an outline of a supportive election-time government to the people when the time is right,” the BNP leader said.

Fakhrul made the remarks while talking with the reporters following an event at the party’s headquarters at Naya Paltan of Dhaka on Saturday.

The BNP leader alleged that ruling Awami League is avoiding talks over upcoming parliamentary elections due to its fear of losing power.

“We have repeatedly said that we want an impartial government during the election. We do not want an Awami League government. We do not want a Sheikh Hasina government,” Alamgir said.

“No election held under such a government could ever be fair,” he claimed.

“The government is ignoring these calls. They do not want to talk with us. They know that if the elections were held under an impartial government, if they were fair and if all people were allowed to vote, they would be thrashed,” Fakhrul said.

According to bdnews24, the BNP leader inaugurated a daylong free medical camp by the BNP-allied ‘Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh’ at the BNP offices in observation of the birthday of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on Saturday.
