Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) moved their rally at Suhrawardy Udyan demanding the release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail from March 11 to March 12.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the rescheduled date at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office, as per UNB report.
"We declared yesterday (Thursday) to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on March 11. We've now deferred our rally to March 12 from March 11. We've also completed all the necessary processes in this regard," he said.
The BNP leader said they have sent letters to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Public Works department seeking permission for the rally.
Rizvi also said earlier their party was denied permission to hold a rally on February 22 at the same venue showing causes of International Mother Language Day programme and Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Bangla Academy premises.
