The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) barred small vessels from leaving terminals amid squally weather caused by a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
The BIWTA issued the order for vessels below 65 feet on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.
But river routes to coastal areas like Hatia, Betua and Rangabali have been suspended for vessels of all size, BIWTA spokesperson Hasan Mojumder said.
