Biman starts selling tickets for hajj flights

Biman Bangladesh Airlines started selling tickets for hajj flights from Monday as the national flag carrier is scheduled to begin carrying hajj pilgrims from July 4.

According to the agreement between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, over 0.12 million pilgrims are expected to perform hajj this year. Among them, Biman will transport 63,599 pilgrims to the kingdom. 

The national flag carrier will operate 157 dedicated flights and 32 schedule flights in 32 days, from July 4 to August 5.

For the first time, Biman will operate 11 hajj flights from Dhaka to Medina.

Besides, 10 flights hajj flights would also be operated on Chattogram-Jeddah, 3 flights on Sylhet-Jeddah and seven dedicated flights on Chattogram-Medina route. There will be 126 flights on Dhaka-Jeddah route.

Return flight will start from August 17 and end on September 14.

For the first the pilgrims will complete immigration in Dhaka. For this reason, they have to send their info to Saudi Arabia one day before the flight.

Saudi Arabia will not provide any extra slot this year.

Biman will penalise the pilgrims in case of cancellation of travel.  Each pilgrim will have to pay US$ 350 as the penalty for cancellation of travel.

A pilgrim will be charged US$200 to $300 if he or she wants to change the date of travel.
