The state-run Bangladesh e-Government Computer Incident Response Team (BGD e-Gov CIRT) has developed its own software e-KYC (Know Your Customer) to provide digital services to the people in the country.
The online platform has been created to enable citizens through biometrically authentication to know the identity of the people with a view to digitally signing and submitting any form of public and private services within minutes.
The government formed the BGD e-Gov CIRT under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology after Bangladesh Bank's reserve heist incident.
Director (operations) of the Digital Security Agency and project Director of BGD e-GOV CIRT Tarique M Barkatullah said this software has been developed by the software development team of the BGD e-Gov CIRT through their own research.
In case of providing government services through this software, the identity of the service recipient can be verified continuously through the e-KYC, he added.
Through this software, it is possible to verify the national identity of any person through sophisticated facial-matching technology based on machine learning in real time by taking the information of the customer's national identity card number and date of birth including another live picture.
