BGB arrests gold smuggler at Benapole

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested an alleged gold smuggler along with 14 gold bars worth Tk 5.6 million from Benapole border area of Jessore on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Quader Ali, 35, son of Amanat Morol of Daulatpur village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive in from Boroachhara border area around noon and arrested Quader along with the gold bullion, said Lt Col Ariful Haque, Commanding Officer of BGB-49 Battalion.
Later, the gold was deposited to Benapole customs house while Quader handed over to police after a case was filed, he said.
