BERC increases gas prices for all users from July 1

The energy regulator has decided to increase gas prices by 32.8 per cent for all users, to be effective from July 1, despite objections to the move from various quarters.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Monowar Islam informed the decision while addressing a press conference in Karwan Bazar area of Dhaka on Sunday, report bdnews24.com and UNB.

As per the announcement, the price of household gas for the single-burner cooking stove will increase to Tk 925 per month from Tk 750.

Meanwhile, the price of household gas for the double-burner stove will be Tk 975 per month from Tk 800.

For the customers, who are paying for gas by the cubic metre, the price of gas will jump to Tk 12.60 per cubic metre from Tk 9.10 per cubic metre.

The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) used to fuel vehicles will also rise from Monday to Tk 43 per cubic metre from Tk 38 per cubic metre.
