The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris celebrated the country’s graduation out of Least Development Countries (LDCs) category in a joyous and festive manner at the embassy.
The mission organised an interactive discussion session at the Chancery on Thursday (20 March) to mark the occasion.
Eminent and other members of expatriate Bangladesh community in Paris attended the event, said a media release.
In the programme, the embassy screened a short documentary on the socio-economic development of the country capturing the background stories of rapid, inclusive and sustainable development.
They also provided a power-point presentation on “LDC graduation of Bangladesh: Significance and way forward” with an overview of country’s achievements and the graduation process.
Following the presentations, a discussion session under the theme “Bangladesh’s LDC Graduation and Expatriates’ thoughts” was held at the event.
Bangladesh Ambassador to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Kazi Imtiaz Hossain presided over the function.
Hossain said, “It’s a historic event for Bangladesh”.
“It has been possible due to the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under her leadership, Bangladesh adopted bold and forward-looking development strategies which yielded rapid but inclusive economic growth, structural transformation and remarkable social progress,” he said.
Noting that Bangladesh is the only country to have fulfilled all the three criteria for graduation from the LDC category, the ambassador said, “We are one step ahead to build our ‘Sonar Bangla’.
Participant speakers praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and congratulated her on the country’s latest achievement.
The Embassy is also organising ‘Consular Week’ from 19-23 March 2018 to celebrate the graduation.
