BASIS SoftExpo draws huge crowd on Friday

The four-day BASIS SoftExpo 2020 witnessed a large crowd on Friday, the second day of the ICT fair.

The exhibitors and organisers were happy and expressed their satisfaction as hundreds of people gathered at International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital.

People from different professions including university students and children were seen at the fair premises visiting different stalls and inquiring different questions to the stall owners.

Earlier, President M Abdul Hamid inaugurated the expo on Thursday.

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is organising the exhibition, titled "Transforming life trough innovation."

300 exhibitors, both local and international, are showcasing the capability of local software companies in international arena.

Considered as the largest private-sector exposition of the IT sector in South Asia, the 16th edition of the exposition was aimed at creating more collaborative relationship at national and international levels.

The event this year is a congregation of ICT companies, personalities, professionals, key policymakers, industry leaders and other ICT stakeholders.

The current exports of ICT, BOP, hardware etc. is worth US$ 1.0 billion and expected to make it $5.0 billion within 2023 through creating more skilled workforce and employment.

At the ongoing BASIS SoftExpo, B-2-B matchmaking sessions are being held between local and foreign companies, allowing local ICT companies to expand their businesses.

Companies from Sweden, Japan, Netherlands are participating at B-2-B matchmaking session.

Top ten companies from other verticals will be recognised as ‘BASIS Top Ten Digital-Ready Company’ for successfully organising B-2-B for session with BASIS member companies.

Besides, Bangladesh's largest ICT career camp is being held with more than 2000 students. There is a Innovative Project show-casing, with the participation of more than 45 universities. Among them the first three Innovative Projects will be awarded.

The fair will end on Sunday.
