Bangladesh's mobile internet users increased by 3.4 million in one month, according to the statistics of the country's telecom regulator.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission’s (BTRC) data revealed that the number of mobile internet users rose to 110.90 million in June from 107.50 million in May.
Besides, the number of broadband internet users also increased substantially, rising from 9.81 million in May to 10.05 million in June.
The country did not see any increase in the number of broadband internet users in May compared with April this year.
According to BTRC, the total number of internet users in Bangladesh was 120.95 million in June this year. It was 117.31 million in May.
The number of internet users in the country increased by only 2,000 from January to February this year.
Internet subscriber means people who have accessed the internet at least once in the preceding 90 days.
According to the BTRC, the number of mobile SIM users increased by 1.14 million in June compared with May this year.
The total number of mobile SIM users in the country reached 176.41 million in June this year. It was 175.27 million at the end of May.
Of them, 82.03 million were Grameenphone users, 51.84 million Robi, 36.56 million Banglalink, and 5.98 million were Teletalk users in June.
Mobile SIM subscriber means biometrically verified people who have availed of voice, data, SMS or other services at least once in the preceding 90 days, according to the BTRC.
