Qatar Charity (QC), an international humanitarian organization, received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the Government of Bangladesh for its humanitarian operations in Bhasan Char Island to support and assist Rohingya refugees.
The QC was classified by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in Bangladesh as one of the largest organisations that responded to the relief for Rohingya refugees, said a press note issued by the QC Bangladesh Office.
Since 2021, QC has provided relief to about 123,000 Rohingya refugees on Bhasan Char Island, according to the press note.
"There are many difficulties and problems in Bhasan Char Island, but we get food and other necessities from Qatar Charity. So we thank them and the philanthropists in Qatar," said the press note, quoting Sakina, one of the refugee women in the island.
QC provided gas cylinders this month that benefited 23,000 refugees, in addition to food aid.
Bangladesh hosts more than 1.1 million Rohingya in the camps of Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char Island.
