Bangladesh sends medical supplies to Nepal under SAARC COVID fund

Bangladesh on Tuesday sent medicine and other medical supplies to Nepal to help the South Asian nation combat the ongoing pandemic under the SAARC COVID-19 emergency fund as a gesture of friendship.

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen handed over Bangladesh made Remdesivir injection, PPE, hand sanitiser and floor cleaner to Nepal Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Bongshidhar Mishra at the Foreign Ministry in the capital, reports BSS citing a press release.

On this occasion, the foreign minister described Bangladesh government’s various initiatives in containing the pandemic as well as the developed countries’ keen interest in importing Bangladesh made PPE and high quality medicine.

The Nepalese envoy lauded Bangladesh government’s timely approaches in the fight against COVID-19 as well as efficiency of Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies.

In March, the South Asian leaders formed ‘The SAARC COVID-19 Emergency Fund’ which is being implemented by the foreign ministry of the respective SAARC member states while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided 1.5 million US dollar to the fund from Bangladesh.
