BD reports nine more coronavirus deaths, 434 new cases

The highly infectious coronavirus disease has killed nine more people in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 110 in the country.

Meanwhile, the total number of infections has soared to 3382 after 434 more people tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General (Administration) of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a daily health bulletin this noon.

Among the dead, five were male and four female, Dr Nasima said.

Besides, two more patients made recovery during the period under review, taking the number of recovered people to 87.

In the past 24 hours, some 2974 samples were tested from across the country, according to DGHS.

Earlier on Monday, ten more people died and 492 people tested positive for COVID-19.

Coronavirus, first reported in China, has so far infected 2,490,950 people globally and killed 170,606 of them, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.

Of the infected, 1,666,765 are currently being treated while 57,338 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.

As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
