Bangladesh has recorded its first Covid related death after 16 days, taking the overall death toll from the disease to 29,442.
10 new cases of Covid-19 were also recorded over the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally of infections to 2,037,516.
As per the latest government data, as many as 2,155 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.46 per cent.
Rajshahi logged the highest number of cases among the eight divisions, with eight infections, as per a bdnews24.com report.
Another 215 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,992,224.
The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.78 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.44 per cent.
Globally, over 669.36 million people have been infected by the coronavirus and 6.74 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
