Finance Minister AMA Muhith said on Wednesday Bangladesh proved its capability through meeting all the three criterions for graduating to the developing countries stage.
"We proved that we can achieve. We were at the lower stage, but have now climbed up. We will go further up," the minister told newsmen while briefing at his secretariat office on the occasion of Bangladesh's becoming eligible to graduate to a developing country from a least developed one.
The minister also said Bangladesh is the only country that is graduating by meeting the necessary criterions, which none other LDCs has been able at that stage.
"Personally I feel so proud due to the graduation. Bangladesh is now taking scale-up facility (high interest loan) from the World Bank to show our ability," he noted.
Replying to a query, the minister said Bangladesh will remain a least developed country until 2024 in the United Nations' list, but the country has already graduated to a lower middle income country as per the World Bank's calculation.
