Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali on Friday has underscored the importance of cultural diversity to act as a driving force to attain economic growth.
He also said cultural diversity is a means of leading a more fulfilling and enlightened life.
The envoy made the remarks while speaking on Friday at a panel discussion organised by Ashoka University at Sonipat outside New Delhi.
The title of the discussion is Ubuntu: Cultures of the world unite, as per a press release.
In the discussion, Muazzem Ali asked the students to keep an open mind and to embrace other people’s language and culture for boosting socio-cultural bonds.
“Respect for each other’s language and culture depends on our understanding,” he said.
The function was also addressed by Zambian High Commissioner Judith Kangoma-Kapijimpanga, Prof. Mohan Kumar from Jindal School of International Affairs and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Ashoka University Sankar Krishnan.
Farid Hossain, Minister (Press) Bangladesh High Commission and Dr. Nahid Rashid, Commerce Counsellor were also present.
