Ruling Awami League has finally nominated businessman Atiqul Islam to contest the forthcoming by-polls to the mayoral post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
AL's local government nomination board took the decision on Tuesday during a meeting at Ganabhaban, say several televisions.
Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.
Atiqul Islam was the president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
