An activist of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS-MN Larma) was gunned down by assailants in front of a hotel in Khagrachhari’s Panchhari upazila on Thursday evening.
The victim was identified as Rony Tripura, 32, son of Manindra Lal Tripura of the upazila.
Dulal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Panchhari Police Station, said the assailants opened fire on Rony at around 7:00pm and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.
He was declared dead by doctors when taken to Panchhari Upazila Health Complex, UNB reports.
Sudarshan Chakma, student affairs secretary of PCJSS, claimed that the members of United People's Democratic Front killed Rony.
