Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said the Election Commission (EC) will take decision over the army deployment in the upcoming Rangpur City Corporation election.
"The election will be held as per the Constitution. It's the Election Commission which will decide about the army deployment in the polls," he said while talking to reporters before attending a discussion programme marking the Free Mirpur Day at Mirpur upazila parishad auditorium on Friday.
Responding to a query over the BNP's demand to deploy army in the Rangpur City Corporation polls, Inu said demanding army deployment is nothing but a conspiracy to foil the election, reports UNB.
BNP even brought allegations against the army after the elections held in 1991, 1996 and 2001, he said. "Khaleda Zia had never accepted any election result when she was defeated," Inu added.
