Ariful Haque Chowdhury took mayoral charge of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) on Monday for the second consecutive term.
SCC Secretary Md Badrul Haque handed over the charge to him around 4 pm following a milad and doa mahfil at the Nagar Bhaban in the city, reports UNB.
Thanking all for electing him for the second term, Ariful said, "As the mayor, I along with the political leaders will work for the development of the city. We'll work for building a liveable, beautiful and clean city."
Ariful who was elected SCC mayor in the election held on August 11 took the oath of office on September 5 and left for London on September 8. He returned home on September 7.
