The fifth batch of 634,920 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in Dhaka from Japan on Saturday evening.
The vaccine doses are scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a flight of Cathay Pacific at around 7:15 pm, confirmed sources at the health ministry, reports UNB.
Earlier, a flight of All Nippon Airways, carrying the vaccine shots, left Japan Friday.
With this shipment, the total amount of vaccine delivery from Japan to Bangladesh, under the WHO-COVAX, mechanism topped 3 million.
It reflects the commitment of the Japanese government, said the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed was present at Narita International Airport during vaccine dispatch.
Commercial Counsellor Dr Ariful Haque and First Secretary (Press) Md Shiplu Zaman were also present at that time.
Bangladesh will receive 1.0 million doses of Pfizer vaccine from the US on August 30.
