The body of the Dhaka North Mayor Annisul Huq arrived in Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday arond 12.45 pm.
Annisul’s younger brother and Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq received the body at the airport.
Awami League leaders including Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and senior officials of the city corporation were present at the airport.
From the airport, the body was taken to his Banani residence. Later, it will be taken to Bangladesh Army Stadium where people from all walks of life will pay their last respects to Annisul Huq.
Annisul’s wife Rubana Huq, son Navidul Huq and a granddaughter of the mayor were also travelling to Dhaka in the same flight.
Flight BG202 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines left Heathrow Airport at 7:58pm local time on Friday about two hours behind schedule, with the coffin.
He will be buried at the Banani graveyard following another namaz-e-janaza at the Army Stadium after Asr prayers
