Amu inaugurates air separation unit plant

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Tuesday inaugurated an Air Separation Unit (ASU) plant with a production capacity of 100 tons air gas per day.

Linde Bangladesh set up the plant at a cost of Tk 1.6 billion (Tk 160 crore) to meet the increasing demand of oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the country's health and industrial sectors.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Amu said the country's medical and industrial sectors need 63 tonnes of oxygen every day. The new plant will help meet the demand of gas in the country, he added.

Amu said sustainable and environment friendly industries are increasing in the country and demand of gases such as oxygen, liquid nitrogen, argon, dry ice, carbon dioxide and industrial gas will increase in future, reports BSS.

 

As per the plan of the government, the Bangladesh will be a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041, he said and urged all to extend cooperation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for materializing the dream of Father of the national Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 

Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Pratik) and Linde Bangladesh chairman Ayub Quadri, among others, spoke on the occasion.
