Amu asks DCs to maintain law and order during next JS polls

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday asked the deputy commissioners (DCs) to keep the law and order under control in their respective districts during the next general election.

“Now the country’s law and order is under control due to the government’s sincere and relentless efforts,” he told the heads of district administrations on the second day of three-day DC Conference at Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat.

“The law and order is now under control and the DCs have been instructed to maintain it during the next polls,” Amu said in response to a question from journalists after coming out of the conference, reports BSS.

He said the DCs have also been directed to follow Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s declaration of ‘zero tolerance’ against drugs and implement her directives in this regard.

“None involved in drug trading will be spared,” the minister said.

He said the government has undertaken initiatives to keep the sugar mills operative round the year.

“Sugar mills usually operate only three months, but we have undertaken a plan to refine raw materials into sugar bit,” he added.

The minister, however, advised the DCs to take care of the matter that none is allowed to make ‘gur’ (molasses) instead of sugar in the next sugarcane season.

Replying to another question, Amu said there is no problem of fertilizer distribution in the country. Fertilizer distribution is being carried out very well.
