Amu asks BSTI to strengthen anti-adulteration drive during Ramadan

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday asked the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to intensify their anti-adulteration drives across the country for ensuring safe food during the holy month of Ramadan.

"Businessmen involved with food adulteration should abstain from the malpractice as it could even harm their own family members. BSTI should be careful about the dishonest businessmen so that they cannot sell any unhealthy and low quality food," he said.

The Industries Minister was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on "Constant Evolution of the International System of Units (SI)" at BSTI auditorium in the city.

BSTI organised the discussion marking the "World Metrology Day-2018". Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry M Enamul Haque was present as special guest while BSTI Director General Sardar Abul Kalam presided over the discussion.

Amu said that regional offices of the BSTI would conduct anti-adulteration drives at the district and upazila levels. He said safe and adequate raw materials are essential to make quality product, otherwise. "We must follow the international standard of measurement in all areas," he added, reports BSS.
