Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan has said the Awami League never relies on foreign states to stay in power.
"The AL only maintains friendly relations with other countries," the minister said.
Shajahan Khan was talking with newsmen after inspecting development work of Char Muguria Eco Park in Madaripur on Saturday.
"Awami League was formed based on the people. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman brought independence relying on the people, not on foreigners," he said.
"BNP lodged complaints to foreigners but failed to remain in power. They again lodged complaints to foreigners but failed again to come in the power," Shajahan Khan said.
The shipping minister alleged that BNP is now trying to put baseless blames on the government.
According to BSS, he observed that the BNP leaders have kept Khaleda Zia behind bars willingly.
"They are carrying out all the legal procedures sluggishly for gaining people's sympathy," he said.
Madaripur District Council Chairman Md Miajuddin Khan, Faridpur Divisional Forest Officer Md Enamul Haque Bhuiyan, Superintendant of Police (SP) Mohammad Sarwar Hossain and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sadar Upazila Md Shafiur Rahman, were present on the occasion, among others.
